Is ODU a dry campus? ›

In compliance with the State and Federal law, the University forbids the unlawful possession, use or distribution of alcohol on university property or at university sponsored functions.

Old Dominion University belongs to an elite group of institutions accounting for less than 5% of four-year research universities nationwide. Members of that group share the prestigious Research 1 (R1) Classification.

Any undergraduate student taking 12 or more hours of degree credit for grade point credit who attains a grade point average of 3.40 or higher with no grade below C (2.00) is placed on the Dean's list. The student must also receive a passing grade on any nondegree credit courses in which he or she is enrolled.

From the first day you step on the ODU campus to the day you graduate, you'll enjoy the special privilege of participating in the vibrant and rich ODU student culture. If you're applying to ODU, one of the things to keep in mind is that it is a PWI – a predominantly white institution.

Old Dominion University admissions has an acceptance rate of 95% and an early acceptance rate of 91.9%. Half the applicants admitted to Old Dominion who submitted test scores have an SAT score between 1090 and 1250 or an ACT score of 22 and 27.

The award is given to a top percentile of students, like the top 10% or 25%. The exact dean's list GPA requirements will depend on each particular pool of students, but is usually at least a 3.5 GPA. To be eligible, you'll also need to be a full-time student taking a minimum number of credits (often around 12 credits).

Minimum University standards for departmental honors are: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25; Minimum GPA in the major of 3.50; Completion of at least two courses designated by the department to be honors.

Smoking in all university facilities is prohibited. The policy prohibits smoking within 25 feet of the entrance to any university facility, and gives preferential consideration to nonsmokers whenever it is determined they are being exposed to smoke.

Our university and the international fraternities and sororities represented on our campus have strict policies prohibiting this practice. Hazing is inconsistent with fraternity and sorority ideals.
